Recruitment into AKPSI
If you're looking for a great way to meet other students dedicated to academics, professionalism, brotherhood and community service, then Alpha Kappa Psi may be a good fit for you. We selectively recruit at the beginning of each semester from all schools at the university (our membership is not restricted to business majors).
Alpha Kappa Psi is not a club; it is a professional coed business fraternity, and the social aspects of our fraternity are equally as important as the professional aspects. Alpha Kappa Psi is a lifelong commitment. Your involvement in our organization does not end when you graduate.
What do we mean by recruitment?
Recruitment is our formal recruitment period whereby potential members interact with current members through meetings, events and interviews to learn about each other and the organization. If we find a fit we will offer "bids" for starting the process to become a member as a pledge for a semester before extending full membership into the fraternity.
Who can be recruited?
Anyone can rush AKPsi, even non-business majors. We stress this point because we feel it is this unique characteristic that helps build our strong brotherhood and is unlike other business fraternities. All that we require is that anyone interested in being recruited be in good academic standing (minimum 2.5 GPA or higher), have at least 3 semesters of college left and demonstrate a strong interest in business, economics, or related fields.
What do we look for in a potential brother?
We selectively admit students whom we think strive for the same ideals that we do: brotherhood, integrity, unity, knowledge, and service. While strong academics are admirable, we seek a balanced individual who is as outgoing and sociable as they are ambitious and hard-working. In other words, GPA is a consideration in our admittance decision, but it is not the top factor. Our average GPA is a 3.3, and our minimum GPA is a 2.5. We also ask that you have three semesters or more left at CU. Our best advice is to attend our rush events and decide for yourself if you are a fit with our culture (Check out Delta Sigma Pi, too).
If our brotherhood believes you will be a good fit for our professional business fraternity, you will be extended a bid. If you receive and accept a bid, you will then enter your pledge semester. The pledge process designed to teach you more about us as a fraternity, teach professionalism, and test whether or not you are a good fit for our membership. We reserve the right to drop any pledge that we feel doesn't fit our ideals and values at any point during the semester-long pledge process.
There are two professional business fraternities at the University of Colorado at Boulder. You can rush both fraternities, but you can only accept a bid from one.. Please visit Delta Sigma Pi's website and choose one accordingly.

Meet & Greet
Once you've decided that AKPsi is right for you, we want to make sure you're a perfect match for us. Therefore, we need you to bring a resume, cover letter, and questionnaire to our "Meet and Greet" event (there are great resources on the Leeds website if you have never made a resume or cover letter before). At the Meet and Greet, you'll have a chance to meet all of our active brothers and make an impression. Dress is business casual.
Friday, September 8th 2017, 6:00pm in the Koelbel Atrium
Now that we've had time in a professional setting to talk and get to know you, now it's time to have fun! If we think you are a great candidate, you will be invited to join us in a more casual environment. Join the brothers to bowl, grab food, or do something else fun like go ice skating!
Sunday, September 10th 2017, time and place TBD
The last step of our rush process is a professional interview. Our best candidates will be given an opportunity to interview with a panel of brothers. This will give each potential pledge an opportunity to present him or herself in a professional environment. You can expect an interview with our membership to feel similar to a job interview. If you have never had an interview before, we suggest you look at some practice interview questions so you can be confident and prepared. We will want to hear how you strive to embody our ideals of brotherhood, integrity, service, unity and knowledge. Like any interview, please arrive early. Dress is business professional.
